Kingsmere Park wading pool update

Councillor Kavanagh’s office contacted the General Manager of Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services on our behalf, and he reconfirmed that this wading pool would be open July 2nd.  He added that they planned to paint the wading pool June 27th, and water will be activated and tested June 28.  Barring any unforeseen issues, it should be ready for the planned opening of July 2.

Update – 2019-07-02 @ 2:40pm:

I was notified by a community member that the wading pool at Kingsmere park has not been filled with water, and, there are 3 lifeguards on duty. The lifeguards said the wading pool cannot be filled with water right now because they are waiting for a plumber to look at it.

I notified Councillor Theresa Kavanagh’s office and hope for a response today.

Update – 2019-07-02 @ 3:25pm:

I received a call from Councillor Theresa Kavanagh’s office. I was told that the plumber was called away and would not be available today. They will let me know what day/date the wading pool will open.

In lieu of today, they will open it on Monday, July 8th (when it is normally closed).

FYI – The City of Ottawa posts information about city wading pools here: https://ottawa.ca/en/residents/recreation-and-parks/swimming#wading-pools-summer-only

Update – 2019-07-03 @ 9:55am:

I received a call from Councillor Theresa Kavanagh’s office. I was told that the pool would open today per the daily schedule after missing the original planned opening date yesterday.

We are participating in GLAD Cleaning the Capital this year! This is an opportunity for our neighborhood to clean en masse, and get rid of the litter in the streets and in the parks.

Meet at Kingsmere Park on May 4th at 12:30pm to get your free cleaning supplies and to make sure we are not duplicating effort.
