While it is below freezing when I write this (@9am), I expect the warmer temperatures being forecast for this afternoon will require us to close the rink. The forecast for the rest of the week and beyond is even warmer, so yesterday was likely the last day of the 2018-2019 rink season.

Thank you to all the volunteers that made this season possible. Some of you know that – before the season started – we had a contractor lined up to build and maintain the ice in order to lighten the burden on volunteers. When the contractor declined last-minute, I was not sure how we could build the ice with the small number of volunteers we had or if we were even going to have a rink in our community this year. Then, a core group of volunteers stepped up to help with the ice build and maintenance. At that point, it was no longer a question of what we were going to do, but how quickly we could organize.

The following people deserve a special thank you for volunteering a lot of their time to make sure we had 2 great ice surfaces all season: Andy, Curtis, Ted, Jeff, and Stephanie. Without these individuals (and their families), there would not have been a rink this year.

Thank you to everyone that volunteered their time to shovel, snow blow, scrape, chip, pack, flood, fix, supervise, clean, and do all the other miscellaneous (and sometimes thankless) tasks that make our community rink possible!
