Summer Fun Day 2018 – Thank you!
Thank you to everyone that volunteered and everyone that participated. We would also like to thank the various sponsors of the amazing Fun Day we had on August 18th:
- Starbucks (Carling and Woodroffe) donated iced tea and coffee
- St. Paul’s United Church contributed to the senior’s tent
- Bulk Barn donated a jar of Rockets (candy) that was the prize for the winner of the best decorated bike in the bike parade
GPCA directors and volunteers organized, decorated, BBQ’d, and supervised the Fun Day.
GPCA contributed to the senior’s tent, and sponsored the food supplies, bouncy castle, decorations, face painting and kids activities.
Kingsmere Park Wading Pool – sad news
At lunch today, I received a call from the City’s summer recreation coordinator who looks after our neighborhood. She shared with me that a bonfire was started within the Kingsmere Park wading pool last night, and there is damage to the drain pipes. The wading pool is out of service until further notice.
Maintenance crews have to take a look at the extent of damage before they can determine when it can be fixed.
I asked if a police report was filed. My contact is looking into this and will get back to me.
Summer Fun Day 2018 – Bike Parade
The kids bike parade starts at 11:30am at Glabar Park, and we go down Hare, Benjamin and Parkhurst in order to get to Kingsmere Park.
Sometimes we take Harmany to Kingsmere Ave, and then to Benjamin (gametime decision).
